Galerie Frédéric Moisan is organizing a 3-day flash sale in tribute to Bernard Guillot. Prints can be purchased during the exhibition from November 17 to 19, 2022 in its showroom in Paris (75001). The profits will be donated to the publishing house Filigranes, Bernard Guillot's lifelong accomplices, for the publication of a book, a monograph in our most beautiful hopes. "Dear friends, art lovers and visitors, For 15 years, the Galerie Frédéric Moisan has been working to promote contemporary visual artists. Among them, Bernard Guillot was a major painter-photographer. He died suddenly in the summer of 2021, and it is our ambition to publish a monographic work in light of his work. It is in this perspective that we are organizing a flash sale from November 17 to 19, 2022 in our showroom (46 Rue Croix des petits champs - 75001 Paris). The event will bring together iconic silver prints from the Pavillon Blanc series (Nadar Prize 2003, Éditions Filigranes) and painted photographs. All proceeds will be for the publication of this book. We appeal to your generosity to succeed in making this project. Bernard Guillot, the one who is called « the passer », builds bridges between the real and the wonderful. With Indian ink or gouache, he enhances his silver prints to create a gap in the unspeakable. In the Pavillon Blanc, he explains: « I said to myself, on all fours, with the camera open, that in this story of capturing/delivering images, the essential could be the ineffable, the air, the indefinable between me-him, and the object. The cosmos where we project ourselves unceasingly ». It is within reach in his photographs with the scent of eternity, taken at the Maffet Hotel in Cairo, where BG spent half of his time in the year. The eye dissolves in the silence of the abandoned place. The photographer creates inaccessible spaces where perpetual time reigns. The incidences of light, the only protagonists, are so many signals stretched towards the beyond. The mirrors in this room rest and emerge from the depths of the night, from far away, a wave, a fluid, a magnetic and living breath. The corridors, the dilapidated rooms and the dusty corners are landscapes waiting for the sky, drifting but obstinate landscapes. « Digestion of dead cities, wear of laments » he said. On this tepid, soft and crumbly earth, BG observes the forms in their universal compound and their metamorphosis. His gaze, like a child, apprehends each thing as if it could be celestial beginnings. He describes in the photographic act « the happiness of combining revelation, intuition, imagination and observation ». To make Bernard Guillot's work known seems to us to be an essential mission and to succeed, thanks to you, in publishing his monographic work, a challenge to be met. Solenn LAURENT"
